Daria Addabbo is an Italian documentary photographer and photojournalist with over fifteen years of experience. Her work has been published internationally in The Washington Post, El País, and leading Italian magazines.

She has worked extensively on editorial assignments for newspapers and magazines, covering stories on current affairs, culture, and society. This experience has shaped her ability to respond quickly and precisely to editorial needs, often condensing a broader narrative into a single, resonant image. Her visual language develops at the intersection of daily journalistic work and long-term independent projects.

For nearly a decade, she has also been developing photo novels, exploring the form as a contemporary narrative language. Her most recent work in this field is Little Boxes.

In recent years, Addabbo has expanded her practice through international residencies and collaborations. Between 2024 and 2025, she completed a two-month artistic residency sponsored by Princeton University, working between New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where she developed new chapters of her ongoing project This Hard Land, a photographic exploration of the American working class inspired by the songs of Bruce Springsteen.

Her work often examines the social, symbolic, and environmental dimensions of place.

Between 2024 and 2025, she produced a major commission for Acea S.p.A., Italy’s leading utility company in the water, energy, and environmental sectors. The project, focused on the waters of Rome and their historical and urban significance, resulted in the photographic book La Via Acquea (2025).

Since 2022, she has maintained an ongoing collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP), documenting the organization’s Executive Board and producing institutional photography for events and official communications.

Her publications include This Hard Land (Jaca Book, 2018), Un Altro Giorno è Andato (Jaca Book, 2020), Acque d’America (Jaca Book, 2023), and La Via Acquea (2025).

Her work has received international recognition, including selections for American Photography in 2023 and 2025, and Honorable Mentions at the International Photography Awards (IPA) in both 2023 and 2025, the latter awarded for This Hard Land.
